&lt;p&gt;If I recall correctly, the most recent proposed Google Settlement promised to pay all the legal fees for the libraries if and when the libraries were sued.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Do you know if Google has promised to pay the University of Michigan&#039;s fees if they are sued as a result of this distribution of so-called orphan works?  Because this is a lawsuit just waiting to happen, in my opinion as a non-lawyer.&lt;/p&gt;
